Judge Sharon Loner called Sammo a "FANTASTIC MALE" at the 2015 California Classic! In the championship round she found he was finer fleeced than the juvenile male of the class! Sammo's 2014 fleece took a 2nd place at the 2015 Great Western Alpaca Show where Judge Wini Labrecque noted an exceptionally fine fleece exhibiting good brightness and hand. And Sammo scored very high in his Walking Fleece class at the 2015 West Coast Alpaca Show, taking First Place. Judge Wini Lebrecque commented that he was very fine, dense and uniform with a low amount of guard hair mainly on the britch/belly. She was so taken with Sammo that, in the awards ceremony, she commented that she thought he might have taken the Winners Cup! This is high praise for a 2 year old gray male!!! Sammo has grown up to be quite the Macho! His first cria are on the ground and they are very nice, indeed! At just 6 months, his boy Azzreal took first place in a very competitive black juvenile class at the 2016 Gold Country Gathering. We can't wait to see how these cria grow up! Until then his breedings continue to be available at an introductory rate. But we're sure that will rise! Get your breedings while they're still affordable!

At birth, we knew he was something special. It was birthing season and there were a lot of cria on the ground... When we saw him our first reaction was ... oh no... because we were breeding for dark colors and Blizzard is obviously white as in WHITE not off white or cream (much less beige) but amazing bright WHITE! None of our whites have ever been this brite WHITE! Even our white herdsire (Ike) or irridescent boy (Persey is more creamy) haven't been this White! Our 4-H kids named him Blizzard and that was an apt name... his fleece had a very fluffy "all over the place" quality to it. But at the same time it was very dense, fine and (most notable) uniform (see first year histogram). It's also very bright! As he matured he's developed an incredible lock structure and handle. At 4 years old it still has a buttery soft feel! This is the fleece everyone wants! If I was breeding white I would want this boy... check out his genetics. On the sire's side you have Skywalker's Justice... a multiple champion winner in light brown. His dam is no slouch either... having won a first place at AOBA in beige 2001. My personal assessment is this... I don't like/want white but I love this fleece! At the 2014 Gold Country Gathering Judge Kathy Klay said "He's the total package!" when awarding him first place (no championship)! She noted his nice soft crimp style & density, and at a little over a year he's well grown with a good solid frame. Most recently, his 3rd fleece spin-off entry won Judges Choice! And his 4th fleece spin-off entry won 1st Place in the adult (D) class (of 8) at the 2017 AOA nationals, this in spite of being very dirty/muddy thanks to our very wet/muddy winter. Check out his picture, there's obviously style there as well. The pix don't tell you but he's also got fleece coverage to the nose and ground, a good indicator of density! And if that's not enough, he sheared almost 10 pounds in his third year! Blizzard is growing up nicely! He's settled his first girls with several pregnancies confirmed and two cria on the ground. We can't wait to see how his cria grow and what else he produces. Until then his breedings are available at an introductory rate. But we're sure that will rise when we see what he's produced!

Our breeding goals have changed since we bought this boy and we aren't using him like we expected. We hate to see him languish in our herd when someone else could put him to good use. He produces nice cria, with lots of density and nice crimp... and to date most have been girls! This is your chance to take advantage of a great New Years special! Sterling Legend's 5 year fleece was still in the 16 micron range. Legend's pedigree is heavy with black and grey. And his fleece is no slouch either! With a micron count of 18.3 in his third year, his fineness is holding nicely. In fact his 2013 EPDs are stellar! With an AFD of -1.739 and a ranking in the top 2.5% he can make a big impact on our breeding program and yours! Legend has numerous cria on the ground now with more on the way. Of these cria, more than half are girls! Check out some of their pix... we are confident that his cria will be knockouts! So far he's produced gray when bred to gray and fawn/light when bread to like dams. While we wait for them to grow, we've continued to offer his breedings at an introductory price of $750. Legend has excellent conformation with a square profile, straight legs, correct bite and a wooly top knot. In addition to the fineness, he has a very dense fleece, as you would expect of a Snowmass alpaca. His fleece is also bright and silky, soft with a moderate amplitude crimp that extends up into the neck and down into the belly and legs, and good staple length.

Kit Carson has once again returned to CA for the winter/spring and can't wait to meet your girls! We're so excited to have him back and are looking forward to showing his youngsters at the Gold Country Gathering this fall! Recently at the 2021 Gold Country Gathering, our first show in two years, son MHAR Aurelio Carson won RC in Walking Fleece! Judge Cheryl Gehly comment on his fineness, uniformity across primaries/secondaries and lack of guard hair! Check out his 2020 cria fleece (6 months). The photo doesn't do it justice as it rivals dad's for brightness and character! 2019 saw daughter Ebonni Carson win CC in walking fleece (TB) at the Gold Country Gathering under Wini Labrecque! We're so in love with all his cria, but this one is truly special:) The first thing we noticed about his cria is the outstanding vigor, and once dry the brightness of the fleece! And the fleece character is no slouch either. As the cria have grown, we're seeing excellent early density and crimp, glowing brightness, and yummy softness/hand. Oh and the depth of color! Check out the pix of some of our first cria in all their dusty glory. Oh and let's not forget personality... these cria are among the most laid back and easiest to train that we have produced! KC took his first championship at 8 months of age. Since then, his fleece has maintained its length and fineness and he remains one of the best grey males in the country. His production has not disappointed with multiple championships among his offspring. To date we've counted at least 18 of his offspring have won RCC or Color Championships! Among the most recent are RR Crawford, RR Lancelot, 4-Sight's Centerfold, MHAR's Ebonni Carson and MHAR Aurelio Carson. If you have a look at his Watt follicle testing results, the reasons will be obvious. The mix of black and white fibers in his grey is homogeneous in micron. He is the only alpaca, male or female, that carries the best characteristics of the Snowmass Peruvian Casanova and Guns n Roses lines. His follicle density testing by Ian Watt is outstanding at 2 years of age: Density: 57.9/mm2 Secondary: Primary fiber ratio: 9.8:1 In-skin primary fiber diameter: 22.3 micron SD 3.2 In-skin secondary fiber diameter: 13.7 micron SD 2.5 Comments: "High density coupled with an excellent set of numbers for the secondary fiber population give this male potential as a significant sire in .... a group not known for its uniformity within each fiber population. This is a significant animal for silver grey alpacas, where the black fibers tend to be very strong in micron and vary across the staple in most alpacas of this colour.

News Flash! Crystal Blue's first cria is on the ground and he's a big boy weighing in at 21.9 lbs. He was up, roaming the pasture and trying to nurse before he was even dry. With a nice square frame and loads of popcorn curls that are already starting to form crimpy bundles at the skin, this boy has lots of potential! We can't wait to see how he grows. We expect the price will rise when we see more of his get! Crystal Blue was born 3+ weeks early and a bit dismature. But, at 16 lbs, he caught up quickly, showing us a nice square frame and upright posture. Just look at how he poses for the camera! His fleece is very soft, bright and crimpy with really nice early bundling/density. We had planned to show him in 2020 and spring 2021, but with the COVID-19 pandemic, the shows were all cancelled and we're so disappointed. Instead we sent Blue's yearling fleece to the AOA National Fleece Show 2021. Judge Amanda Vandenbosch commented on the fine fleece, good staple length and even color, awarding him Seventh Place. At the Gold Color Gathering 2021 Fleece Show, that same yearling fleece earned First Place (of 9) and Color Champion from Cheryl Gehly who commented: "Excellent Character and Brightness! Secondaries are really fine!". In Halter at GCG 21, Judge Wade Gease noted the fineness, staple length and excellent conformation/bone after awarding him Second Place, with only density holding him back from First. Later in Walking Fleece, Cheryl Gehly praised his retained fineness, noting he's very fine for his age, with little guard hair and excellent uniformity between primary and secondary fibers, placing him Second (of 5) in the two year class. At the CA Classic 2022, Judge Laurel Shouvlin praised his fleece organizationn/character, and his good conformation, awarding him 2nd Place followed by Reserve Champion in Halter. In Walking Fleece, Judge David Barboza mentioned his long staple and nice organization, saying he especially liked the character, density, uniformity and handle, placing him in First Place (of 6) and Reserve Champion. In the 2022 CALPACA Autumn Fleece Extravaganza, Judge Beverly Brehm noted his soft handling fleece with good uniformity. Then in the Gold Country Gathering 2022 Judge Stephanie Glyptis loved his conformation and fine, uniform fleece, awarding him First Place and Color Champion in the Halter Class. In Walking Fleece, Judge Dianna Timmerman gave him First Place, noting the fineness, uniformity and staple length of his fleece.

Leo had a very nice presence early on. He's hands down the most mellow cria we've birthed here. Just look at how comfortable he is in Layla's arms on Day 9! Layla received an adoption certificate for her birthday and she came that day to choose her "Adopted Alpaca for the Year". She chose Leo, and when I told her he didn't have a name yet, she asked if she could name him. And viola, we have Leo Carson! Both of Leo's parents are multi-Champions with excellent fleece stats including lingering fineness, nice uniformity and excellent density. So he has lots of potential! At birth, his fleece was very soft and curly. But after cria shearing, he left with his dam to head north for breeding. So unfortunately we had to wait till the following spring to see how it's growing out. The good news is that on arrival he almost immediately became best buds with one of their recently born cria. So we were sure he was in good hands! Fast forward to six months of age after returning from Washington with mom. I took a look at his fleece one day and WOWZA! The pix here don't do him justice: he's extremely bright and fine with excellent density. It's too bad COVID 19 prevented us from showing him this spring. But he'll definitely be in the ring come fall! We sent Leo's first fleece (just7 months growth) to the AOA National Fleece Show 2021. Judge Amanda Vandenbosch noted his even, well nourished fleece with developing staple, awarding him First Place (of 9)! At the Gold Country Gathering 2021, Leo's 2021 fleece earned Second Place, with Judge Cheryl Gehly noting the fleece's brightness and fine secondaries. In Halter, Judge Wade Gease noted his density and staple uniformity especially between secondary and primary fibers after awarding him Second Place. Later in Walking Fleece, Cheryl Gehly praised his beautiful hand, noting the fleece was very fine, and very uniform, with little guard hair, which earned him Second Place (of 8) and Reserve Champion. At the CA Classic 2022, Leo was awarded First Place for his density, organization and uniformity. Judge Laurel Shouvlin also noted how close the primary and secondary fiber microns were. In Walking Fleece, Judge David Barboza noted his soft hand, uniformity, dense bundling and brightness which earned him fourth place (of 8) in a very competitive class. In the Walking Fleece show at the 2022 Gold Country Gathering Judge Dianna Timmerman noted his fineness, uniformity across the blanket, staple length and character. She awarded him first place (72.5 points) and Color Champion.
